Transition Mat Systems have been developed to prevent erosion in the transitional zones, leading from pipes and culverts. Mat technology enable vegetated solutions which is an alternative to traditionally hard armor applications like rock rip rap. These vegetated solutions provide significant aesthetics to landscapes facilitate the intent of NPDES regulations, support long term compliance for your property-owner clients while minimizing their maintenance costs, all the while filtering pollutants and recharging groundwater.

Designers seeking vegetated solutions for a broad range of storm water applications can use this education segment to learn what transition mats are, how they work, where to use them, and how to design for them, including their performance limits. Many pictures from all over the U.S. make it interesting and fun to learn, while providing a great refresher course on managing post-construction storm water.
