Introduction

This is an introduction to the use of polymer additives to improve water quality by reducing the level of suspended solids in surface waters. This module teaches the basics of polyacrylamide, such as:  What is it?  How does it work?  How is sediment harmful?  What are its uses and applications?   Included are many photos and descriptions of the most common polymer enhanced Best Management Practices applications.  This course is a pre-requisite to the other three polymer related modules (7.E, 7.F and 7.G) in this training series, as it will give you the foundation you require to best understand the field applications covered in those modules.
