Module 1.A – Woven Geotextile Manufacturing Process (1.5 PDH Credits) by A. Berry

Introduction

There is a broad spectrum of woven geotextiles in the civil engineering market today.  These woven fabrics are manufactured to vary greatly in physical and hydraulic properties, to meet the requirements demanded by the application.  These properties are determined by a combination of yarn and weave types, which the manufacture selects to achieve a finished product that meets the requirements of the specifying engineer.  This module details the manufacturing process of woven geotextiles, from the manufacturing of the yarns, through the weaving process and then packaging of the finished goods.  Knowing this process will help the engineer understand the strengths and weakness of certain woven geotextiles for specification purposes.
